Ryan Maloney has secured the prestigious ride on the star mare Bella Nipotina for Saturday’s Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) at Eagle Farm.
Since March last year, only three jockeys have ridden the $10 million earner in races, with Maloney joining the ranks of Ben Melham, John Allen, and regular rider Craig Williams.
Williams will be absent this weekend due to his latest humanitarian mission in Ukraine.
Trainer Ciaron Maher, who recently teamed up with Maloney for a stunning win in the Group 1 Queensland Oaks (2200m) with rank outsider Socks Nation, is optimistic about their chances in the fillies and mares feature, the final Group 1 race of the season.
“We’ve had a long association with Ryan and he’s riding in great form, there is no one better up there,” Maher told Racing.com.
