The five-year-olds take centre stage at Rosehill on Saturday afternoon, with the $2 million Five Diamonds (1800m) headlining a bumper 10-race program. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit, and with minimal rainfall predicted in the lead-up, punters can expect a Good 4 surface on race-day morning. The Group 2 Hot Danish Stakes (1400m) and Group 3 Golden Gift (1100m) have served up a quality undercard, with racing scheduled to get underway at 12:25pm local time.
Five Diamonds Tip: Territory Express
Territory Express bombed the start in the Five Diamond Prelude (1500m) at Randwick on October 26, costing himself victory in the process. Zac Lloyd put in one final desperate lunge aboard the son of Territories after navigating a passage through a wall of horses, with Iknowastar clinging on by a lip as they passed the post locked together. He gets a similar setup here but should be much closer in the middle stages, and provided Territory Express can show a similar turn-of-foot stretching out to the 1800m, this guy can make amends in the $2 million feature.

Hot Danish Stakes Tip: Olentia
The Chris Waller-trained Olentia was a big drifter with horse racing bookmakers in the Group 2 Invitation (1400m) on October 26 and she ran accordingly. The Zoustar mare simply doesn’t do her best work on the Randwick circuit. Meanwhile, three of her seven career victories have come at Rosehill. She exploded third-up last preparation, claiming the Group 2 Emancipation (1500m), and with this campaign echoing a similar setup after a second-up failure, punters can expect Olentia to recapture winning form in the 2024 Hot Danish Stakes.

Golden Gift Tip: Icarian Dream
Icarian Dream justified the short quote with Marantelli Bet breaking her maiden on debut at Warwick Farm on October 16. The Blue Point filly didn’t seem to be travelling on the Soft conditions; however, grinded her way to a narrow victory in unsuitable conditions. There should be a hot tempo in this two-year-old feature, and with Jason Collett likely to lob into the one-one throughout from barrier four, watch for Icarian Dream to put in the big strides late to claim the 2024 Golden Gift and stamping herself as the potential early favourite for next year’s Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Best Bet at Rosehill: Gilded Water
European import Gilded Water makes his Australian debut in this BM78 contest and seems to have acclimatised well to the Ciaron Maher barn. The son of Fastnet Rock caught the eye in a recent piece of work at Warwick Farm on October 29, cruising through the wire under his own steam to get within 1.4 lengths of Hopeful. There’s good intent kicking off the campaign over 1800m, and with Jason Collett set to get an economical run from stall five, watch for Gilded Water to make a strong impression first-up.

Next Best at Rosehill: Chica Mojito
The Chris Waller-trained Chica Mojito is yet to win on Australian shores heading into her seventh start but won’t find a more suitable assignment. The four-year-old mare drops back to BM78 after tackling stakes company at Randwick on October 19, finishing off impressively behind Lekvarte in the Group 3 Angst Stakes (1600m). She finished a half-length off Firestorm at this course and distance first-up in the preparation, and a replicate performance on Saturday should have Chica Mojito return to the winners’ circle.

Best Value at Rosehill: Up And Under
Up And Under should be a big improver stepping out to 2400m and looks to be an overs each-way price at the $17.00 with Boombet. The Lope De Vega gelding was left flat-footed at Caulfield on October 16, but prior to that effort, he was terrific behind Group 1 Metropolitan Handicap (2400m) placegetter Unusual Legacy at Rosehill on September 14. Tommy Berry will likely drag back towards the rear of the field from gate 10 but they should go a genuine clip, and if there’s one making strong inroads down the centre of the course, expect it to be Up And Under causing a boilover.
