A strong field of 14 mares are set to do battle in the Group 2 Rose Of Kingston Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on Saturday afternoon.
Race favourite Princess Grace (-117.65) has drawn perfectly in barrier five for Saturday’s 1400m affair as she looks to build on impressive runs in Group 1 assignments to begin her spring campaign.
The Rose Of Kingston Stakes will be the first time Princess Grace has stepped out of weight-of-age company since claiming the Group 3 Hawkesbury Crown (1300m) in April.
Having been beaten a length by Amelia’s Jewel in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) last time out, the Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained Life Lessons will be looking to go one better in the Rose Of Kingston.
Online bookmakers have Life Lessons marked as a +650 chance, sharing the second line of betting with Kiwi mare Skew Wiff.
Skew Wiff is a last-start Group 1 Tarzino Trophy (1400m) winner, a race where she beat the likes of Legarto, Sharp ‘N’ Smart, Callsign Mav and Pennyweka, with all of those runner tasting Group 1 success in Australia over the last 12 months.
The 2023 Rose Of Kingston Stakes is the sixth race on a stacked 10-race program at Flemington on Saturday, headlined by the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes (2000m).
