Metropolitan racing returns to Royal Randwick on Saturday for an ultra-competitive 10-race program kicking off at 11:20am. The rail is out +5m the entire circuit, and with clear skies forecast heading into the weekend, we should be racing on a Good 4 surface. With 154 acceptors for the meeting, it looks like a tricky card to dissect.
Best Bet at Randwick – Salire
Salire looks primed to break through this preparation when going around in Saturday’s Highway Handicap. His latest two performances have been ideal lead up events, finding the minor money behind Mogo Magic at Rosehill on July 1, then hitting the frame in BM78 company 2.5 lengths away from the very classy Omni Man at Randwick on July 15. Back to 1200m in Highway grade looks perfect placement from the Cameron Crockett barn, and with a genuine tempo engaged here, watch for Salire to swallow up his rivals when sprinting down the heart of the course.

Next Best at Randwick – King Of Naples
King Of Naples couldn’t have been more impressive when victorious at Canterbury on July 12, and we’re happy to back up on this son of Your Song. He was crowded for room on that occasion before bursting clear, courtesy of an expert steer from leading apprentice Zac Lloyd. It was a more dominant display than the half-length margin may suggest, and with the second placed galloper, Shines, producing a subsequent win, the form looks well-worth following. He’s drawn barrier six to gain a mid-field position with some cover, and provided Nash Rawiller can navigate King Of Naples to the outside turning for home, the $7 on offer with online bookmakers will seem overs at some stage.

Best Value at Randwick – Inver Park
Inver Park is a European import set to make his Australian racing debut for the Kris Lees stable and warrants an each-way ticket. He’s had a total of four barrier trials since his arrival and every time the five-year-old has stepped out, left us with a good impression. He’s seemingly acclimatised well to his new conditions and with the jockey appointment of James McDonald a critical one, gives us great confidence Inver Park is wound up for this first-up assignment. He’s drawn (6) to gain an economical run throughout the 1100m, and with some class surrounding this gelding, career win number six looks well within reach.
