HorseBetting’s Sydney form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the seven-race metropolitan meeting on the Kensington track at Royal Randwick this Wednesday. The track is rated a Good 3, the rail is out 5m for the entire course, and the first race is set to jump at 1:25pm AEST.
Kensington Best Bet: Antonio Giovanni
Chris Waller and James McDonald combine with Antonio Giovanni in the opening race of the day, and we are confident they can link up for another winner this season. The horse has had three trials now, with his first coming all the way back in December when fourth to Shaquero before a long spell in the paddock. The three-year-old colt had two trials in August, running third in his first one back and then winning the next with some authority despite being ridden out in the straight. The son of All Too Hard looks ready to take that trial form to raceday, and while he will get back from barrier eight, McDonald could win on a broomstick of late, so we will trust he can find a clear passage home in the short straight.
Next Best at Kensington: Ita
Bjorn Baker will leg up Jason Collett aboard his four-year-old mare Ita, who is looking to make it three straight wins. The daughter of All Too Hard has a terrific record, winning three races and being the runner-up on four other occasions from just nine career starts, and after a big 5.5-length win at Bathurst and then a 1.8-length win at Wyong a fortnight ago, she looks to make it a hat-trick on her metropolitan debut. Ita was able to settle in a good spot in the run at Wyong last start under Collett before putting in the big bounds to defeat the likes of Socrates, who has performed at Group 1 level. She should get a sweet run in transit from barrier three and be too good again.
Kensington Value Bet: Lovin’ Feelin’
Three-year-old Lovin’ Feelin’ has been very well travelled in just her seven starts, running in three states at five different tracks. While the Exceed And Excel filly is yet to place in any of those seven starts, she has only contested two maiden races, with the others coming at black-type level behind some of the country’s top two-year-olds at the time: Sweet Dolly, Alpine Edge and Dosh. While those efforts should have seen the John Sargent runner competitive in maiden grade, each time she struck quality horses there too, with Arnaqueur winning at Kembla Grange on April 3 and In The Congo breaking through on May 19. Back to midweek maiden company on Wednesday, Lovin’ Feelin’ can run a big race under Tim Clark, who does the steering from barrier 12. Expect the filly to race closer in the run here and be filling the placings.
