The Northern Southland Trotting Club has made picking a winner at their twilight meeting on Friday even easier.
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 1
A tricky race to start the day but the good news is the punting only gets easier from here.
Several horses in this race have genuine eachway claims including Cool Phelan.
This mare was beaten by two of her rivals in her last start but she impressed when working very hard throughout.
Abacardi Hazel is an honest type with good manners and could offer some nice value.
Johns Boy is very honest and reliable and he looks a very safe eachway option.
Speeding Spirit went a nice race first up and looks another genuine winning hope.
Selections: Cool Phelan (8), Johns Boy (3), Abacardi Hazel (5), Speeding Spirit (1)
Suggested bet: Johns Boy (3) – Eachway
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 2
Teddy Baker was a highly impressive winner of his last start at Winton.
A repeat of that run would make him very hard to catch.
With a hot favourite, punters are going to need to search for Quinella/Trifecta/First4 option.
Horses to include Full Of Desire who has the ace draw.
Jenny Gump, who has run two nice races recently, should also be included.
Tisbury Rocks could sit on the markers and run into a combos spot, so look at her too.
Selections: Teddy Baker (3), Jenny Gump (5), Full Of Desire (1), Tisbury Rocks (9)
Suggested bet: Teddy Baker (3) – Win
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 3
A small field with handicaps to play a crucial role in deciding the winner.
Hurricane Hill was a very impressive last start winner at Winton.
From 20m he looks perfectly placed to take plenty of catching.
Wai Key Wee has been in great touch and is bound to be running on strongly, he’s a strong winning hope.
Port Pegasus is very honest and is needed in all of your Trifecta and First4 calculations.
Tweedledee is a classy customer but faces a big ask from 50m, put him in your combos.
Selections: Hurricane Hill (4), Wai Key Wee (5), Port Pegasus (2), Domination’s Call (3)
Suggested bet: Hurricane Hill (4) – Win
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 4
Prima Donna comes into this race on the back of a cracking fifth, showing she is ready to return to her best form.
Barrier 4 looks just about perfect for her & she should be hard to beat.
Sweet Treat has been trialling well and is undoubtedly good enough to win, she just needs a slice of luck from her barrier 9 draw.
De La Renta may offer punters some nice place value, she has trialled well recently and looks competitive in this field.
Elouisa Dale has the perfect draw for a fast beginner and should go in your combo calculations.
Selections: Prima Donna (4), Sweet Treat (9), De La Renta (5), Elouisa Dale (2)
Suggested bet: Prima Donna (4) – Eachway
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 5
A small but select field and again we could be looking at two horses fighting out the finish.
Get Up N Dance is a very talented type and though he hasn’t raced or trialled recently I am picking he will be fit and ready to run a big race.
He gets a headstart on Mogul, but Mogul has the advantage of having plenty of racing under his belt.
Punters might find it easiest to take the quinella with these two leading chances.
It is a very even line up between the top two with Doctor Tim looking a solid Trifecta and First4 chance.
Owe Me Dough should also go into your combo calculations.
Selections: Mogul (6), Get Up N Dance (4), Doctor Tim (3), Owes Me Dough (1)
Suggested Bet: Mogul (6) & Get Up N Dance (4) – Quinella
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 6
This race is more competitive and even than it may look on paper.
Raupunga Lad deserves to start favourite on the back to two excellent wins.
He is bound to be very hard to beat, but as he is likely to start at a short win price, other bets might offer more value.
Following an outstanding second, Magnetic Terror should give eachway punters a good run for their money.
I’m Trouble has been in great touch recently and looks a strong place hope.
Both Sonny Maguire and Ballymena have trialled well recently and should go into your combo bets.
Selections: Raupunga Lad (8), Magnetic Terror (7), I’m Trouble (4), Sonny Maguire (6)
Suggested Bet: Magnetic Terror (7) – Eachway
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 7
A sensational field here, packed full of talent and winning chances.
Hidden Talent deserves to start favourite, she is a really classy type.
But from her draw, this race is no gimme for her.
Majestic Love has drawn best of the leading chances and is sure to take plenty of catching.
Ti Amo Belle impressed in her last start win at Addington and looks well up to winning this.
Minnie McGoogan has the tactical speed to lead early and get the perfect run, so she must be considered too.
Selections: Hidden Talent (8), Majestic Love (3), Ti Amo Belle (6), Minnie McGoogan (5)
Suggested Bet: Majestic Love (3) – Eachway
Northern Southland TC Form Analysis – Race 8
Xlendi has all the form and all the class to win this, especially on the back of a mammoth second in his last start.
He must overcome a tough draw in barrier 8, but on talent he is the horse to beat.
The Matriach is much better placed in barrier 4, she was seen rattling home in her last start.
Classic Mission is well up to winning this race and shouldn’t be underrated.
Captain Bligh produced a nice debut and looks as good as many in this field, he just needs some luck his second row draw.
Selections: The Matriarch (4), Xlendi (8), Classic Mission (10), Captain Bligh (13)
Suggested Bet: Classic Mission (10) – Eachway
