Welcome back to another daily edition of #PuntDrunk, and boy, do we have a couple of eye catchers today!
We saw our best bet salute yesterday in Rose Quartz at Bendigo, and she looks like one to follow moving forward considering how much she did wrong while accounting for her opposition with ease.
With a huge field of 20 set to go around in this week’s Doncaster Handicap and plenty of black-type racing to sink our teeth into, we are more than ready for Saturday to come around.

Jamie Kah is not just the best female jockey in the country; we are willing to put our neck out and say she is the best jockey in the country, full stop. Having dominated metro racing in Victoria, she is set to embark on a new challenge up in Sydney this autumn. One win from eight rides in New South Wales is nothing to write home about, but Kah has some strong chances on Day 1 of The Championships. With rides aboard Haut Brion Her, Cascadian, Toscanini and Queen Of Wizardry already booked, all eyes will be on who the star hoop is partnered with throughout the meeting. Let’s hope Kah keeps this purple patch going into the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Talk about blowing your load early!
$2.1 million for lot 5 @VineryStud the much anticipated Exceed and Excel colt selling to Tony Fung Investments @AquisFarm pic.twitter.com/ywl8R8q9I9
— ANZ Bloodstock (@anz_news) April 6, 2021
Imagine rocking up to the Australia Easter Yearling Sale, you see the fourth lot of the day come into the ring, and just moments later the Exceed And Excel x Peace Force colt is yours for a cool $2.1 million. That is one expensive Tuesday morning. Tony Fung, a Hong Kong businessman, was the recipient of the prized colt and will hand the training responsibilities to the Hawkes organisation. Here’s hoping that this one is not another fizzer like the infamous Snitzel colt Mount Fuji, who went for $2.8 million at this sale back in 2019.

Punt Drunk’s best bet of the day
We are not willing to throw the ‘M’ word around in #PuntDrunk, but Lost And Running looks hard to go past in the last race at Canterbury today. The John O’Shea-trained gelding was sent around as a $1.25 favourite on the Kensington track last time out and saluted as an odds-on favourite should. He has four wins from as many starts, and we expect him to make it five from five.
