Trainer Grahame Begg has confirmed that Group 3-winning mare Niance will not participate in the upcoming Autumn Carnival due to an unfortunate setback caused by a paddock accident.

The lightly raced five-year-old, a last-start winner of the Group 3 How Now Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, had been sent for a spell but will now miss potential Group 1 targets in Melbourne and Sydney early next year.

“She’s out of play at the moment. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get her up for the spring,” Begg told RSN927 on Monday.

“The form’s been absolutely outstanding around her. It’s disappointing, but hopefully everything will be good with her, and we’ll get her back in one piece.”

Raced by Ace Bloodstock, Niance has built an impressive record, winning six of her ten starts and amassing nearly $350,000 in prize money.
