Positivity, the Naturalism Stakes winner, has been withdrawn from Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) after failing to satisfy trainer Andrew Forsman during a Friday trot-up.
The four-year-old mare, who had secured a guaranteed start in the Caulfield Cup with her victory in the Naturalism Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield last month, was set to be ridden by jockey Winona Costin.
However, following her midfield in The Bart Cummings (2520m) in her final lead-up, she was ruled out on Friday afternoon due to a minor hoof issue.
Positivity’s withdrawal opens the door for Fancy Man, who placed in the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) last start.
Trained by Annabel Neasham and Rob Archibald, Fancy Man will now jump from barrier three with Ron Stewart aboard.
Meanwhile, the connections of Deny Knowledge and Young Werther are anxiously awaiting results from re-inspections after Racing Victoria vets found both horses displaying irregular gaits during Thursday’s assessments.
