Port Lincoln betting tips for Friday, January 22, 2021

What Port Lincoln Races
Where Port Lincoln Racing Club, 5-41 Proper Bay Rd, Port Lincoln SA 5606
When Friday, January 22, 2021
First Race 3pm AEDT

Port Lincoln is the scene for an eight race card of racing in South Australia on Friday afternoon, and we’re racing on a Good 4. The forecast is for clear skies, and with the rail out 3m from the 800m to winning post and then out 2m the remainder, we are set for a cracking day of racing. The first at Port Lincoln is set to jump at 3pm ACDT.

Best Bet: Race 4 #4 Confinement

The Shylie Williams trained Confinement will look to use her experience, and break through for a maiden win at start 15. The four-year-old mare has ran in the minor money on three occasions in her past four runs, including a narrow defeat in a head bobbing finish in similar conditions she faced here on January 10. From barrier 11, Karl Zechner will need to get her moving early to settle her in the first half a dozen, and will need to find cover early on. If Confinement does not get trapped three wide without cover she will take a power of beating and bring up a deserved maiden win.

Next Best: Race 6 #1 Fearless Al

Having finished no worse than fifth in nine runs this campaign we are with the John Dunn trained Fearless Al, who has managed to win twice so far over the Port Lincoln 1210m this prep. Fearless Al steps up to the 1390m this run, and having only missed the placings twice in eight runs over the track and distance, it is hard to go past him on Friday in the second leg of the quaddie. Fearless Al has two wins over the 1390m at Port Lincoln to add to that, and considering he rarely runs a bad race at the track he looks to be one of the best bets on the Port Lincoln card.

Best Value: Race 5 #2 Oblique Line

In the opening leg of the Port Lincoln quaddie we are siding with the John Dunn trained Oblique Line who seemingly got too far back in the running over the Port Lincoln 1750m on January 10. The gelding does his best work when in the first half a dozen and if jockey Eran Boyd can settle him in a more prominent position on Friday afternoon, he looks set to run a big race in the opening leg of the quaddie at a nice price. It’s will be worth assessing the odds at multiple online betting sites before backing Oblique Line for the win.
