Pinjarra Race Club will host a very competitive meeting this Tuesday afternoon, where the $100,000 Boxing Day Dash will headline the eight-race card. With warm weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday, we expect the track to stay in the Good range for the whole program. The rail will be in the +3m position, with racing set to kick off at 1:04pm AWST.
Boxing Day Dash Tip: Vast Art
Vast Art has been good without winning in two starts this preparation, recording a placing at Listed level first-up before running on from the back of the field to finish sixth last start. Although this four-year-old gelding will be stepping up in grade from Benchmark 78+ to Benchmark 84+, this contest appears easier and looks like an ideal race for him to return to winning ways. This son of Flying Artie will settle towards the rear of the field and appreciate a solid tempo. Clint Johnston-Porter will have Vast Art on the outside of horses on the home turn before finishing over the top of his rivals late.

Best Bet at Pinjarra: Lord Shiva
Lord Shiva was a beaten favourite on debut at Belmont on August 30; however, the form out of that race has skyrocketed since the winner, Oscar’s Fortune, went on to run second in the Group 1 Winterbottom Stakes. After running third in his first race start, this son of Playing God was given a two-month freshen before being seen at the Lark Hill trials, where he won a 950m trial by 4.3 lengths. With only two other runners having race experience in this race, we expect Lord Shiva to prove too good for this field and take care of his maiden at start two.

Next Best Bet at Pinjarra: Pro Latte
Grant & Alana Williams kicked off the preparation of Pro Latte at Belmont on December 6, where the five-year-old mare led from start to finish to bring up a dominant two-length victory over 1400m. After winning two trials before returning from a four-month spell, this daughter of Proart couldn’t have been more impressive first-up and appears to be in for a good campaign. From barrier 10, Clint Johnston-Porter will look to cross the field and find the rail to lead alongside Imperialize, who is drawn outside of this mare. If the leading duo can get a couple of cheap sectionals mid-race, Pro Latte can ramp it up before the turn and give her rivals something to chase in the concluding stages.
