What Pakenham Synthetic Races
Where Pakenham Racing Club – 420 Nar Nar Goon–Longwarry Rd, Tynong VIC 3813
When Monday, August 15, 2022
First Race 1pm AEST

The synthetic track at Pakenham is the destination for racing in Victoria on Monday afternoon where a competitive eight-race card is set down for decision. A perfect winter’s day is forecast for raceday, meaning every runner should get their chance if good enough on the all-weather track.

Racing is set to get underway at 1pm AEST.

PAKENHAM BEST BET: Wahoo Flyer

The formidable duo of Peter Moody & Luke Nolen once again are at the forefront of punters minds when they pair up with maiden galloper Wahoo Flyer on Monday. Having finished in the minor placings in five of her six starts in her career, she is a model of consistency and Monday looks to be her day. She was gunned down in the shadows of the winning post at the Pakenham 1400m two starts back when beaten a long neck on the line and went down by a pimple at Bairnsdale last time out. The Real Impact mare may not get a better chance to break her maiden then what she gets in this and despite drawing barrier 13, if Luke Nolen can lob her midfield with cover, Wahoo Flyer looks a clear best bet of the day.

NEXT BEST AT PAKENHAM: Blood Oath

Following a narrow victory in BM70 grade on at this track and trip on July 28, the fact the Enver Jusufovic-trained Blood Oath steps back to BM64 grade on Monday makes him a great bet. The eight-year-old gelding was held up for a run until the final 150m on that day and really had to dig deep to get the win on the line. He is a genuine Pakenham Synthetic 1200m specialist, boasting a career record of 5: 3-1-0 at the track and trip and from barrier 11, getting caught in traffic in running should not be an issue. He does need to carry 62kg following Matthew Chadwick’s 3kg claim, but with race fitness on his side, it should be no hinderance to his winning chances. The $3.30 on offer with some online betting sites is simply too hard to ignore.

PAKENHAM VALUE BET: Baledon

The Ron Stubbs-trained Baledon went down by the barest of margins first-up from a spell at Cowra last time out and arguably wins in the next stride. He comes to the synthetic for the first time, but a repeat performance of his Cowra effort has him in this race right up to his neck. With this set to be a genuinely run 1400m event, this son of Foxwedge is sure to appreciate the genuine tempo and armed with a strong turn of foot, we anticipate Baledon will sprout wings late and ultimately prove too hard to old out in the penultimate race of the day.

Best Value

Race 7 – silks#2 Baledon (8)

5yo Gelding | T: Ron Stubbs | J: Luke Nolen (61.5kg)
