The first of nine is set to go at 11:05am, with the final race of the day jumping at 4:10pm AEST.
Best Bet at Pakenham – Eros
We do not need to wait too long for our best bet of the day, as the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Eros steps out in the opener. The two-year-old colt was seemingly a good thing beaten at Sale on May 25 where he was held up for a run at a crucial point in the home straight when resuming from a four-month spell. The Capitalist colt has not missed the top three in all three career starts and in doing so has chased home the likes of Xtravagant Star and Counttheheadlights. Safe to say there is no runner in this race with the credentials of those runners and if he is anywhere near what he put in first-up Sale where he went down by a nostril, he should be too good in a race like this. From barrier seven, look for Daniel Stackhouse to have Eros in the one-one throughout and when asked for an effort, the colt should give his rivals windburn in the opener.

Next Best at Pakenham – Grand Quill
On the back of consecutive runner-up performances on the Ballarat Synthetic, the Brian Lawlor-trained Grand Quill looks well placed to go one better in the second leg of the quaddie. The six-year-old gelding has just one win from 35 career starts but has seemingly found another gear on the Synthetic over these staying distances. His racing pattern certainly has not helped his winning strike rate as he likes to let things unfold from the rear of the field. However, in this 0-58 there looks to plenty of speed on paper and in what looks to be a genuinely run 2200m event. With Alana Kelly on board and race fitness on his side, we expect to see Grand Quill launch down the centre of the track late on and ultimately prove too hard to hold out.

Best Value at Pakenham – Luv A Duck
The Damien Walkey-trained Luv A Duck is clearly relishing the Pakenham Synthetic and on the back of a narrow defeat to Big Darryl on June 21, we anticipate he can go one better in this 0-58 on Sunday. Having beaten home Apache Star on that day, that runner has since come out and won comfortably at his next start franking the form out of that race. There is no doubt from barrier 17 Lewis German will need a stack of luck early on, but if afforded the luxury of finding cover midfield or better, then Luv A Duck is going to take some holding out. Luv A Duck has a turn of foot that is more than good enough for a race like this and looks a great play at a nice price with online betting sites.
