Pakenham Racecourse is scheduled to host its weekly eight-race card on Thursday evening, and HorseBetting’s Victorian tipster is here to help you find a few winners. The track has come up a Soft 5 and the rail is out 9m the entire circuit, so in theory it should be advantageous to be up on speed throughout the night. Racing commences at 5:45pm AEDT.

Pakenham Best Bet – No Quarantine

Our best bet of the night comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie, where the Greg Eurell-trained No Quarantine is looking to break a string of runner-up efforts at the Pakenham 1200m. The four-year-old Master Of Design gelding was trapped four wide with no cover up on speed last time out and did extremely well to go down by the barest of margins despite the tough run. He draws barrier two for this, so getting trapped wide will be no issue and we expect Damian Lane to have No Quarantine leading this field throughout. Under a well-rated steer from ‘Frosty’, he should prove simply too hard to run down.

Next Best Bet at Pakenham – Tauty

We will be hoping the Greg Eurrell and Damian Lane combination leaves Pakenham with at least a double, as Tauty looks the one to beat in the fourth event. Having finished second in all three of his runs this campaign, the three-year-old Cluster filly chased home the smart So You See last time out and was undoubtedly doing her best work late. She draws barrier three for this, and we anticipate Lane will look to be positive in finding her a position close to the speed throughout. Tauty has a nice turn of foot, and if she can gain a touch of luck in the home straight, she should bring up a deserved maiden victory at start six.

Best Value Bet at Pakenham – Kermy

The Phillip Stokes-trained Kermy is as honest as they come and has been building towards another win. She has led the field up at both of her last couple of starts but has ultimately been picked off in the shadows of the winning post in both. Sheridan Clarke sticks on board, and with her 3kg claim, the plan looks to be pretty straightforward: jump cleanly, dictate terms and prove too hard to run down. He was picked off last start by a subsequent Moonee Valley winner, and the third-placed runner on that day has since come and won its next start, so the form has been well and truly franked. If Clarke can gift Kermy a couple of quiet sectionals, he should pack too much late for this lot.
