The weekly Thursday night meeting at Pakenham greets punters once again, and with a bit of luck we can steer you into a couple of winners throughout the night. The possibility of showers throughout the meeting might put a dampener on proceedings, but considering the forecast is clear leading up to the meeting, the track should not deteriorate too much throughout the night. The surface is rated a Good 4, the rail is set true, and racing is scheduled to kick off at 5:45pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Pakenham: Bel Air
There is little doubt that the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained Bel Air brings the best form to this 1400m event that opens the quaddie. The three-year-old gelding finished within a neck of Silenstar in an event during the Magic Millions Carnival and considering this is a touch easier, we’re happy to side with him. Online bookmakers have priced him as a $4 third-elect in early markets, but with the right form lines and Ben Melham sticking on board, he looks the goods. He was the best of the beaten bunch behind Aft Cabin last campaign in maiden company and considering this looks to be the easiest race he has ever, contested he is simply too hard to go past. Looks for Melham to use barrier three to his advantage and have Bel Air positioned in the one-one throughout. With a nice turn of foot, Bel Air should finally break his maiden duck.

Next Best at Pakenham: Aminikii
The way Aminikii scored last time out at the Pakenham 1400m last time out, we simply cannot go past the Jason Warren-trained commodity as one of our better bets. The four-year-old gelding gave his rivals a start and a beating on January 12 in Class 1 company and as he steps out into BM64 grade, we anticipate he will go on with the job. He returns to the track and trip on Thursday night, Ethan Brown sticks and board and with a similarly run event expected, we expect Aminikii to unleash down the heart of the track and ultimately prove too hard to hold out once again. He is placed on Soft going in the past and even if the rain comes, Aminikii should prove too classy for this lot.

Best Value at Pakenham: Thesecondatportsea
We will be looking to make our presence felt throughout the quaddie as we will be looking to bow out with the Danny O’Brien-trained Thesecondatportsea in the last. The three-year-old filly looks to be building nicely towards a win having placed at both starts this time in at Sandown. Having placed on Heavy ground last campaign behind the classy Proscenium Arch, we know this Churchill filly will handle whatever the going is on Thursday night and with a bit of luck we can get a nice price about her. Damian Lane hops on board for the first time which is a massive bonus and with a genuinely run 1600m event expect, we anticipate Thesecondatportsea will be building through the gears and ultimately swooping on some vulnerable leaders.
