At $31 with online betting sites, Not An Option wouldn’t have been an option for many punters but the giant killer combination of jockey Patrick Moloney and trainer Mike Moroney have done it again with the gelding taking out the Listed Hareeba Stakes at Mornington.
Two weeks ago the trainer-jockey combination took out the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap at Flemington at $101 with Roch ‘n’ Horse.
They have spoiled the party again for most punters as Not An Option did enough to fend off a fast finishing Superium by a length and Chassis in third.
The first up specialist was gelded during his time in the paddock with Glen Thompson from Mike Maroney’s team saying it was definitely the right decision by the owners to geld the four year old.

“Yeah it was definitely the right decision by the owners, they paid a lot of money for him as a stallion prospect, he lost his way there for a little while but they made the decision to cut him and it looks like it’s going to pay dividends.”
Thompson’s not sure what the plan will be after this win but said Maroney will be happy with him just getting back to form today.
“Not too sure what the plan is but Michael will work out the plan for him going forward but he’ll just be happy with him getting back to form and he’ll sit down and have a think where he’ll head to next.”
