The new week of racing gets underway at Muswellbrook on Monday afternoon, with a competitive nine-race program set for decision. The rail is out +3m between the 1000m to 300m, while the remainder is in the true. Despite some drying conditions on the day, punters should expect the surface to be rated a Heavy 8 for the first race at 11:45am local time.

Junebug didn’t bother the judge in four starts in France before arriving at the Annabel Neasham barn, but her barrier trials have been impressive leading into maiden contest. She looks to have acclimatized well to Australian conditions, with her most recent jump-out catching the eye at Warwick Farm on April 26 when cruising away to score by 1.7 lengths. The 1280m could prove to be short of her best trip, but at the $5.00 on offer with online bookmakers, Junebug is worth a speck as she seeks to break her maiden status.

Bambi Belle was beaten as a short-priced commodity last start at Wagga on May 2 but appears set to peak third-up into the campaign. The daughter of Ribchester was game in defeat, however, chasing hard to the wire to go down by 1.4 lengths. The margin back to fourth was significant and punters should be willing to trust the form. Watch for Jean Van Overmeire to take luck out pf the equation as Bambi Belle attempts to make every post a winner at Muswellbrook to shirk the maiden tag.

Choice Witness hasn’t been back in the winners’ enclosure since her maiden win at Dubbo on January 1. Since that electrifying 4.2-length victory, the daughter of Showtime found the minor money on back-to-back occasions before powering through the line in her most recent start at Grafton on April 30. She can sit closer in the running from barrier six in this Class 1 affair, and if Choice Witness can produce her brilliant best, the Brett Cavanough-trained filly can finally earn career win number two.
