Murray Bridge is scheduled to hold a nine-race card this Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie selections with top odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 5, with the rail out 4m from the 2000m-1700m and then true for the remainder of the course. The meeting is set to get underway at 11:47am ACST (12:17pm AEST).
Murray Bridge Best Bet: Yulong Code
Our best bet of the day comes up in the penultimate race, where the Peter Moody-trained Yulong Code looks perfectly placed to bring up consecutive wins having bolted in at Sale on July 27. The Zoustar stallion finished three lengths off Poland in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes last campaign, so he is a horse on the up and the clear class runner of the field. From barrier seven, Paul Gatt will look to settle in the first four in the running. Yulong Code should prove too good for this field, with black-type racing the goal heading into the spring.
Next Best at Murray Bridge: Fighter
The opening leg of the quaddie looks to be a race in two between Melody Man and our tip, Fighter. The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained gelding has had seven career starts and is yet to finish outside of the top three, and despite having only one win to his name, he will be hard to beat in this. He seemingly does his best racing when finding cover midfield, and from barrier 13 Todd Pannell will need a touch of luck to do just that, but Fighter simply does not know how to run a poor race and should be full of confidence having broken through for a maiden win last time out.
Murray Bridge Value Bet: Busker’s Ballard
One of the better value bets on the Murray Bridge card comes up in the second race as the Ryan Balfour-trained Busker’s Ballard steps out over 2000m. The seven-year-old Street Cry gelding was a dominant winner three starts back at the Murray Bridge 1800m, and if he can replicate that type of performance on Saturday, the $9.50 on offer presents great value. Dom Tourneur will have him settled in the second half of the field, and a nice turn of foot – as seen in the win on June 13 – will make the pair hard to hold out.
