The Murray Bridge Racing Club is the destination for the metropolitan card in South Australia on Saturday afternoon, and with a bit of luck, HorseBetting’s tipping expert can steer you into a few winners. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail out 3m from the 1800m-1000m and then true for the remainder, meaning we should see every runner get their chance throughout the day. Racing is scheduled to begin at 12:17pm ACDT (12:47pm AEDT).
Best Bet at Murray Bridge – Philonize
We were with the Dion Koch-trained Philonize when she resumed from a four-month spell at Morphettville on February 19 where she wasn’t beaten far when finishing second. The three-year-old filly has only ever tasted defeat when first-up, so she clearly gets better with the run under her belt. Considering she looks to be the only leader on paper, the tricky draw of barrier seven should not prove a hinderance to her chances. Ben Price sticks on board and considering he claims 2kg, the three-year-old Reward for Effort filly will go around with just 52kg on her back. The bay filly will look to break their hearts over the 1000m scamper and try and run them into the ground as she naturally has a high cruising speed. Philonize is clearly the horse with most upside in the race and she should prove too good in this. We’re more than happy to take the $2.70 on offer from Bet365.
Next Best at Murray Bridge – Oath Of Omerta
The Michael Hickmott-trained Oath Of Omerta is coming off a second-place finish at Morphettville on February 19, where he ran second to Busker’s Ballard who he meets once again on Saturday. Having given his rival a 3kg weight advantage when needing to lug 60kg, the fact our boy goes around with 55.5kg and Busker’s Ballad goes around with 54kg, brings Oath Of Omerta right into the thick of things. The four-year-old Street Cry gelding make his own luck up on speed and from barrier three, Jessica Eaton should look to have her mount in the one-one throughout. He was reeled in inside the final 50m last time out, so as long as he can see out the 2500m with that weight relief, Oath of Omerta looks one of the better bets on the Murray Bridge card.
Best Value at Murray Bridge – Desired
The Tony & Calvin McEvoy-trained Desired has finished in the top three at all of her past four starts and we expect she will continue her good form on Saturday and we are giving her a chance at a double figure quote. The three-year-old Rich Enuff filly simply couldn’t run down the in-form Equichunk at Strathalbyn on February 16, with the eventual winner/leader getting too easy of a time out in front. The chestnut filly continually runs well without much reward, but from barrier 10 and with speed drawn outside of her, where she should get a cart across the field we expect a forward showing from Desired. She goes around with 54kg on her back, a 6kg weight advantage on race favourite Quietly Discreet. If Desired can settle in the first six, then she should prove to hard to hold out at a nice double digit price with Ladbrokes.
