Morphettville is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie selections for the day. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is out 12m from the 1200m to the winning post and then out 7m for the remainder. Racing will kick off at 11:41am ACDT (12:11pm AEDT).
Morphettville Best Bet – Sacred Armour
The Travis Doudle-trained Sacred Armour was a dominant Gawler maiden winner on October 22, putting two lengths on his closest rival. Having settled in the one-one at Gawler, the four-year-old son of Sacred Falls managed to come clear over the final 200m to suggest he is ready to go on with it. From barrier four on Tuesday, Ryan Hurdle should have no issue in finding him a similar spot as he did last time out, or he has the option of rolling forward and dictating terms throughout. Whether he takes the lead or takes a sit, we expect Sacred Armour to be too good for this lot as he brings up consecutive victories for the first time in his career.
Next Best Bet at Morphettville – Fallow
We will be hoping that Travis Doudle walks away with at least a training double, as we expect his five-year-old gelding Fallow will be too hard to hold out in the final race of the day. He was beaten 0.4 of a length over the Morphettville Parks 1000m on October 23 when finishing second but deserved the win, as he travelled five wide with no cover throughout and fought on gamely under Strategy, who had the much cosier run in transit. From barrier six, we expect Ben Price will take luck out of the equation and send the son of Eurozone to the front of the field and dictate terms throughout. Fallow will have just 58kg on his back after Price’s 2kg claim, and in a race where he should have an uncontested lead, we expect him to be too hard to run down.
Best Value Bet at Morphettville – Marymount Lass
The Trevor Day-trained Marymount Lass was a smart winner over the Morphettville 2023m on October 16 when chasing down a hot speed and prevailing in the latter stages. The seven-year-old Hard Spun mare settled midfield with cover before peeling out and wearing down the leaders in the home straight. From barrier 17 on Tuesday, Karl Zechner, who retains the ride, will need to snag her back to the rear of the field. If she is afforded a similar tempo to what she got last time out, then we expect her turn of foot will see her finish over the top of some potentially vulnerable leaders.
