The Listed Leon Macdonald Stakes (1400m) is the headline act on Saturday’s nine-race program on the Morphettville Parks track. Following plenty of midweek rain, the track is a Soft 7 at the time of acceptances, but with a clear forecast, we should be racing on a Soft 5 come Saturday. The rail comes out 3m the entire circuit, with action getting underway at 12:17pm ACST.
Leon Macdonald Stakes Top Tip: See You In Heaven
First-up victories do not come much more impressive than what See You In Heaven produced in the Behemoth Stakes. With bigger targets in mind this spring, the four-year-old mare should account for this similar field with relative ease. She was forced to travel three wide with no cover in the Behemoth and still managed to win going away from her rivals. From barrier nine, she will be in the three-wide line again most likely, and if she can find cover early, See You In Heaven might just have the Leon Macdonald Stakes sewn up a long way out.

Best Bet at Morphettville: Insulation
Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman send last-start winner Insulation to Adelaide for the first time. The four-year-old gelding unleashed a strong turn of foot to salute in a BM64 at Sale with relative ease. His minor placing when first-up at Sandown is more than good enough form for a race like this. Will Price will looks to have him midfield with cover, and when asked to quicken, we expect Insulation to put this field away.

Next Best at Morphettville: Jean Valjean
Jean Valjean was an impressive track and trip winner first-up before catching the eye when hitting the line strongly at Flemington on August 5. The step back to 1000m should be no issue, and despite drawing barrier one, Ben Price will likely have the six-year-old in the second half of the field upon settling. With a thunderous turn of foot for a sprinter, and with even luck from the low draw, Jean Valjean should prove too hard to hold out.

Best Value at Morphettville: Exeter
Exeter returns to the Parks 1250m, a track and trip he was narrowly beaten at two runs back by the smart Picargo. He was well beaten last time out in BM84 company at Moonee Valley, but a step back to BM76 in Adelaide looks to be beneficial. Lachie Neindorf will need to be at his best early so the pair do not get trapped from barrier 11. If they can find cover and Exeter can repeat what he put forward two runs back, Exeter looks a great each-way play in the second leg of the quaddie.
