Morphettville Parks betting preview – March 6, 2021
A nine-race card is set down for judgement on the Parks track at Morphettville on Saturday afternoon as we build up to the Adelaide Cup meeting on Monday. With the track rated a Good 4 and the rail out 4m for the entire circuit, we should be in for a competitive day of racing in South Australia. As is usually the case on the Parks track, it will be no disadvantage to be up on speed throughout the day.
Best Bet: Larkham
It was an impressive first-up victory by the Ryan Bafour-trained Larkham when smashing his rivals on the course proper at Morphettville on February 20. He comes back to the Parks track, where he has tasted success before over the 1000m, and looks well placed to string together consecutive victories for the first time in his career. The in-form apprentice Jacob Opperman hops on board for the first time, and his 3kg claim gets Larkham in well at the weights with 58kg on his back. Having drawn the widest barrier, expect Opperman to give him a kick out of the gates and get a nice cart across the field. With a bit of luck he can dictate this race throughout, and when Opperman asks for an effort in the home straight he should put a couple of lengths on his rivals pretty quickly.
Next Best: Annika
We have mentioned the dynamic combination of Mick Huxtable and Jessica Eaton in the past, and they combine again on Saturday afternoon with the last-start winner in Annika. On February 19, Annika decimated her rivals over this track and distance, and the field she meets on Saturday is no harder than what she contested a fortnight ago. From barrier six, she should have no issue in finding the front and could go all the way in a carbon copy of her last-start win. Expect Annika to make this a genuinely run affair and prove hard to catch over the concluding stages.
Best Value: Neodium
From one dynamic trainer/jockey combination to another, Phillip Stokes and Kayla Crowther will be hoping Neodium can bounce back from a disappointing last-start performance over this track and distance. Expect Crowther to settle Neodium just off the leaders’ heels from barrier two. If the gelding is afforded a slice of luck at the top of the home straight, he should be too strong for his rivals late in the third leg of the Morphettville quaddie.
