The Parks track at Morphettville is scheduled to host a nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s South Australian racing expert presents his best bets, top odds and free quaddie selections for the day. The track is rated a Soft 5, but with plenty of rain forecast we expect the track to receive a downgrade before we get underway. The meeting is set to get underway at 12:17pm ACDT, with the rail out 7m for the entire circuit.
Morphettville Best Bet: Takshaka
The Gytrash Series Final is arguably the highlight event of the day, and that is where we find our best bet in Manhatten Times. The Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained sprinter was massive in defeat when finishing a head off I Am Bene on October 22, a runner he meets again on Wednesday. The four-year-old gelding was forced to travel four wide with no cover at the rear of the field and gave his rival a 1kg weight advantage. He draws horribly here, but if Jason Holder can have this son of Manhattan Rain settled in the moving line with cover this time around, he has the finishing burst required to blouse his rivals. The $5.50 on offer with online betting sites looks to be a steal.

Next Best Bet at Morphettville: Whitchety Grub
Having smashed her rivals in a BM68 over 2500m, we anticipate the step back to 2250m in a 0-64 will prove to be no dramas for Whitchety Grub. The Mick White-trained mare enjoyed a cosy run in transit on the back of the leaders last time out and managed to put three-lengths on her rivals in quick fashion to suggest the penny might have finally dropped with her. On Saturday from barrier three, she draws to gain a similar run in transit as she did last time out and under another patient ride, we should see her bring up consecutive wins for the first time in her career. The rain-affected ground is a query, but if she produces anything like she did last time out then Whitchety Grub should prove too good once again. At $5 with online betting sites, we’re happy to find out how she goes.

Best Value at Morphettville: Kong
Having a run a bottler of a race on Cranbourne Cup Day, we are happy to side with the Ryan Balfour-trained Kong once again on the seven-day backup. The five-year-old gelding wasn’t beaten that far by the smart Pal D’oro when finishing third and a repeat effort of that performance has him right in a race like this. He has finished outside of the top three on just one occasion from his last 10 starts and his win two starts back on November 1 suggests he will be hard to hold out on Saturday. He is more than capable on rain-affected going and from barrier one draws to gain every favour in running. The $9 with online bookmakers looks to be an absurd price and one we are willing to dip into.
