The Parks track at Morphettville is the destination for metropolitan racing in South Australia this Saturday with nine races set down for judgement. The meeting is set to be staged on Soft 7, with the rail out 3m for the entire circuit. Traditionally on the Parks track it pays to be up on speed on rain-affected ground, so take the first two races to find the way the track is playing and then stake accordingly. The first race is set to jump at 11:32am ACST.

Best Bet at Morphettville: Totally Discreet

Fresh off a six-month spell, we are hoping the Phillip Stokes-trained Totally Discreet can kick off her winter campaign with a win in this 1000m scamper. She has trialled up a treat in the run in to this, having put close to three lengths on her rivals at Balaklava on May 26. She draws barrier one for this assignment, so we expect Jason Holder to have her positioned on the leaders’ heels throughout. The three-year-old filly will need luck at a crucial point, but if she is afforded clear running in the home straight, her turn of foot is the best in the race and should get the job done. We are happy to load into the $4 with online bookmakers.

Next Best at Morphettville: Kwoi Hoi

The Cliff Brown-trained Kwoi Hoi heads to the Morphettville 1950m following a comfortable victory at Sale on May 10. The four-year-old gelding was aided by a gun run in transit, but he still seemingly had plenty left in the tank when winning by 1.25 lengths over the 1740m. His only other career win came at the 1887m at Kyneton last spring, so we know he will handle the trip that is in front of him on Saturday. From barrier 13, Barend Vorster will need to be aggressive early and, with a bit of luck, can land Kwoi Hoi in the one-one. If the pair can do just that, he should prove too hard to hold out.

Best Value at Morphettville: Aiguilette

In the second leg of the quaddie, we are willing to forgive Aiguilette’s last-start falter and give him a big push as he steps out over 1250m. Having struck plenty of traffic in the home straight when finishing sixth on May 14, there was no doubt he deserved to finish closer than what his six-length defeat suggests. From barrier four, expect apprentice jockey Margaret Collett to use her 3kg claim to her advantage and have Aiguilette just off the speed throughout. With plenty of early speed engaged, the six-year-old gelding should get his chance to finish over the top of potentially vulnerable leaders. The $10 on offer with online betting sites looks a nice price to take on.
