Racing returns to the course proper at Morphettville on Saturday afternoon as the South Australian Racing Carnival truly heats up with a 10-race program. Headlined by the Group 3 Auraria Stakes for three-year-old fillies, the program is sure to produce genuine form lines as the Group racing heats up in the City of Churches. Perfect conditions are set to greet punters with the track coming up a Good 4 and despite the rail coming out 8m from the 1200m-winning post, we expect fair conditions throughout.
The first of 10 races is set to jump at 11:32am ACST.
Auraria Stakes Top Tip: Let’sbefrankbaby
We were with the Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock-trained Let’sbefrankbaby when she broke her maiden first=up from a spell and we anticipate she will be too hard to beat in Saturday’s feature, the Group 3 Auraria Stakes. The Frankel filly was more than competitive in Group company during the spring and if she is near her best, Lets’befrankbaby can prove the strongest filly in what is easier company than what she faced in the spring. Callan Murray will need to be at his best to have her settled midfield with cover, but if afforded that luxury, we know she will have no issue in seeing out a strongly run 1800m event and at a nice price we’re happy to be with Let’sbefrankbaby on her way to the Group 1 Australasian Oaks.

Port Adelaide Guineas Top Tip: Pearl Adios
The Listed Port Adelaide Guineas has long been a strong form reference to the South Australian Derby for the boys and Australasian Oaks for the girls and we expect Pearl Adios will continue his strong recent form. The Leon Macdonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained three-year-old has put together a couple of impressive wins including last time out over 1600m at this track. She will be giving her rivals a start from the rear of the field, but with the likes of Easterly, Running On Time and Sailors Book all looking to take up the running, we know we are going to get a genuinely run 1800m event throughout. It means the race should set up perfectly for Jason Holder to have this bloke building through his gears approaching the home turn and with a bit of luck, he will be too strong for his rivals late on.

Dequetteville Stakes Top Tip: Remedies
The first of the three feature events is the Listed Dequetteville Stakes for two-year-old fillies and on exposed form, Remedies should prove a class above over 1050m. The Sepoy filly has arguably been racing in strong company than this, including when finishing fourth in the Group 3 Magic Knight Stakes. Earlier in her career, she finished 1.65 lengths off subsequent Blue Diamond Stakes winner Little Brose and if she repeats those types of efforts on Saturday, she should be hard to beat. From barrier five, look for Todd Pannell to roll forward from barrier five and take a sit outside expected leader Artistica. Look for Remedies to pile on the pressure 300m out from home and then kick clear and prove too classy in the Dequetteville.

Best Bet at Morphettville: Chicago Storm
We butter up once again with the David Aldridge-trained Chicago Storm on Saturday afternoon. The four-year-old gelding has returned in fine style this campaign with two wins and two seconds to his name in four runs and with Sheridan Tomlinson sticking on board with his 3kg claim which gets this bloke in with 59.5kg on his back. He draws to gain a perfect run in transit from barrier two on the weekend and with a genuine speed influencer in Secret War drawn directly outside of him, Tomlinson will be able to stalk the leader throughout and with even luck on the home turn, look for Chicago Storm to amble up under a hold and sprint clear over the final furlong.

Next Best at Morphettville: Alotafun
Alotafun was too bad to be true last time out over 1300m, but we expect the Shayne Cahill-trained mare to bounce back in style when she steps back to the 1200m. The Valentia mare put 4.5 lengths on her rivals in a Strathalbyn BM56 two runs back and despite this being a BM68, a similar effort should prove more than good enough on Saturday. With all the speed in the race drawn to the outside, Alotafun should a perfect cart across the field and land in the one-one or at worst, three back in the moving line. Armed with a strong turn of foot and aided by Gary Lo’s 2kg claim, we expect Alotafun to finish too powerfully over the top of some potentially vulnerable leaders.

Best Value at Morphettville: Sebonna
The Peter Hardacre-trained Sebonna has simply been outclassed in the Group 3 Lord Reims Stakes and then again in the Group 2 Adelaide Cup, but stepping back to BM82 looks the perfect tonic to get this bloke into the winner’s stall. The seven-year-old gelding is yet to miss the top two in both of his runs at the Morphettville 2500m, which is the same track and trip he last posted a victory at back in November. He settled at the rear of the field on that day and when asked to quicken he did so stylishly. He draws to gain a similar run on Saturday and despite needing to lug 60.5kg, we expect Sebonna to be the superior stayer and in doing so salute at a double figure price with online bookmakers.
