Moree Cup Best Bet – Moetta
Brett Robb’s Moetta has been knocking on the door, running three consecutive minor placings on the country circuit in her past three starts, so we are confident she can get on top of the podium on Sunday in the Moree Cup. The six-year-old mare by Uncle Mo was beaten a pimple last start at Gilgandra in the Collie Cup (1280m) and now she gets to 1400m, where she can really control the race from barrier two under Serg Lisnyy. This is her Cup to win.

Best Bet at Moree – Comonic
Comonic was given a fair chance last start at Royal Randwick in a Class 2 Highway Handicap over 1100m, and after leading, he just folded late over 1100m to run 4.45 lengths away in ninth. Now back to 950m and back to this level, albeit up to an open handicap, the Scott Singleton-trained five-year-old she be very hard to gun down. Drawn in barrier one for Blake Spriggs, this son of Nicconi should dictate terms from the top, and take plenty of beating. His form this preparation in provincial and metropolitan company is strong enough to suggest he will win on Sunday.

Best Value at Moree – Hello Monday
If this wins, we might be taking Monday off work. Terry Vidler’s Hello Monday has been knocking on the door in three career starts, finishing second on debut Kilmore before failing to beat a runner home at Moe in her subsequent start. The four-year-old Rageese mare left the Danny O’Brien stable following that run and joined Vidler’s camp at Glen Innes, after which she charged home into fourth at Muswellbrook in her stable debut on August 21 over 1000m. The quick rise to 1300m looks ideal for this mare now, while we like the booking of Mikayla Weir. The horse is good enough.
