The night racing season in Victoria continues at Moonee Valley on Friday, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing expert presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the eight-part meeting. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is out 4m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to commence at 6:15pm AEDT.
Moonee Valley Best Bet – Brilliant Venture
The Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained Brilliant Venture looks to have turned the corner after a lengthy winless streak. The son of Zacinto has now put together consecutive wins, including beating home Blanford Lad last time out. That horse has since come out and run second to Mankayan in the Cranbourne Cup last weekend, franking the form. Regular jockey Damien Thornton sticks on board, which is a massive bonus, and with this expected to be a genuine 2500m affair, it will give the gelding a chance to run on from the rear of the field and bring up a hat-trick of wins.
Next Best Bet at Moonee Valley – Dance To Dubai
We will be hoping the Peter Moody-trained Dance To Dubai can build on her first-up win at Traralgon on October 30 with another win at The Valley this Friday. Alana Kelly hops on board, and her 3kg claim will see the Pride of Dubai mare go around with just 55.5kg on her back. From barrier one, we expect Kelly to take her mount to the front, where she can dictate terms and use her claim to maximum advantage. Dance To Dubai showed plenty of heart last time out when needing to kick back along the rails, and if she comes to The Valley with same type of ticker, she should be sending us home a winner.
Moonee Valley Value Bet – Pres De Toi
Peter Chow brings his seven-year-old mare Pres De Toi to the Moonee Valley 1600m following a below-par run in the Listed John Letts Cup on October 30. Having been narrowly defeated by the smart Vitruvius at Geelong the start prior, it looks like she will appreciate the step back in grade to a BM70 for fillies and mares. Despite not winning in over 12 months, the daughter of Helmet has a strong turn of foot, and if it is a night where backmarkers can run on, then Pres De Toi looks set to run a strong race at a nice price.
