HorseBetting’s Victorian racing tipster presents his best bets and top quaddie numbers for the eight-race meeting at Moonee Valley on Friday night, which is set to kick off at 6:15pm AEDT. The conditions are almost identical to last week, with the track rated a Good 4 and the rail set 6m out for the circuit.
Moonee Valley Best Bet – Brownie
The Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Brownie as a dominant winner over the 1000m at The Valley on November 12, and we anticipate she can make it four wins from her past five starts. The four-year-old Street Boss mare prefers to race up on speed and dictate terms throughout, and following Josh Richards’ 3kg claim she will go around with just 55.5kg on her back. If she can get to the lead from barrier six, the light weight could be the difference as Richards will no doubt want to let a fast horse be fast horse over the 955m dash.
Next Best Bet at Moonee Valley – Sig Positano
We were with Sig Positano at Pakenham on November 25 and he rewarded us in fine style despite plenty of nervy moments. Having been held up for a run inside until the final 100m, he simply looked to be a good thing beaten. However, when a gap appeared in the shadows of the winning post, he exploded through and avoided being a good thing licked. From barrier two, he is expected to gain a similar run in transit to what he did at Pakenham, and with even luck at a crucial time, his turn of foot should be the difference as he pushes to make it two wins in succession.
Moonee Valley Value Bet – De Long Star
The Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock yard will be hoping De Long Star can build on her narrow defeat when second-up from a spell at Bendigo on November 25. The three-year-old Squamosa filly looked to have that race shot to pieces when hitting the front inside the final 50m, before running into one better over the concluding stages. She looks to possess plenty of ability, having chased home the likes of Biscayne Bay and La Rocque in her two-year-old campaign. De Long Star will need a touch of luck from barrier seven, but considering she likes to get back and run on, the sticky gate should be no issue. With a genuine tempo expected over the 1200m, we’re happy to be with her at an each-way price.
