With a BM64 win at Donald and three strong placings in town prior to heading to the paddock, Yellow Sam will be looking to add to a smart first-up record. The Ready For Victory mare has two wins and two seconds from four fresh runs, and from barrier one under Fred Kersley, she draws to gain every advantage in running. She looks set to stalk market fancy South Of Houston throughout, and with even luck on the home turn, Yellow Sam can sprint the best in the run home.

This four-year-old gelding managed to put 1.8 lengths on the likes of El Soleado and Miss Icelandic at the Moonee Valley 1200m on November 17, and he returns to the track and trip after five weeks between runs. From barrier four, Carleen Hefel should have no issue landing the plumb spot and stalking the speed throughout. With Hefel’s 1.5kg claim getting the son of Nicconi in with 58.5kg, Veloce Carro should have no problem rounding up the leaders and putting the race away in a couple of strides.

Best Value at Moonee Valley: Regal Zeus
John McArdle’s Regal Zeus was a determined Geelong BM64 winner on November 30 and looks set to go on with the job on Saturday. The three-year-old gelding tends to hold a handy position in running, and he looks set to gain a relatively uncontested lead from barrier two in this 1600m affair. With even luck and a cheap sectional or two, Regal Zeus can kick off the home turn and land the spoils at a nice price with horse racing bookmakers.
