On the opening day of the new racing season, two new trainer partnerships brought up their first success with winners on the Pakenham synthetic track.
Peter Moody, now in partnership with Katherine Coleman, could not have asked for a better start to the new season when Runsir arrived in time to claim the opening event on the Pakenham all-weather track.
The $2.60 favourite managed to defy a betting drift with online bookmakers to get the better of the well-backed Collison, who had been backed from $8 into a $3.20 second-elect.

Coleman, a long-time employee of Moody Racing, was clearly ecstatic post-race.
“Pete told me a story this morning, his first-ever runner got beaten a whisker and I thought that was going to be the case again there for a minute,” she said.
Moody, who has kept a somewhat boutique stable since his return to the training ranks in 2019, made sure the racing world knew how highly he rates Coleman.
“It’s an exciting day for her to have her first runner and winner. She’s the youthfulness my establishment needed,” he said.
“Sarah (Moody), I and the girls, she’s a part of our family now. We all needed a freshen-up and we are lucky this young lady came into our lives three-and-a-half years ago.
“She works very hard, has experience beyond her years. I wish her all the best going forward.”
It was a similar story for Lindsay Park in race five as Ben, Will & JD Hayes brought up their first winner together with $2.30 favourite Powerbound holding off the fast-finishing La Spezia ($8.50).
Will Hayes, a former Western Bulldogs and Carlton AFL player, will be looking to add to the growing Hayes family dynasty as the season progresses.
