Moe Racing Club is scheduled to host a nine-part card on Thursday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian horse racing analyst presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 5, the rail is out 6m for the entire circuit, and the meeting is set to get underway at 1pm AEST.
Moe Best Bet: Toorak Playboy
Our best bet of the day comes up in the second leg of the quaddie when John Allen saddles up Toorak Playboy over 1628m, with the son of Toorak Toff looking to make it three wins from three starts at the Moe mile. Having settled in the second half of the field on September 13 over this track and distance, he sustained a long run from the 1000m mark and was then able to kick clear for a comfortable win. Ben Allen sticks on board, and from barrier 13, we expect him to have Toorak Playboy in the second half of the field so he can watch the race unfold. This horse clearly loves Moe, where he has not yet finished outside of the top three from three runs, and with a 3kg drop in weight, he should be too hard to hold out once again.
Next Best at Moe: No Shame
Richard Laming and Mikaela Lawerence are set to combine in the final race of the day with six-year-old mare No Shame, who has not finished out of the top three in her last four runs. With three wins and a minor placing from five goes at 1100m, this is clearly her preferred distance, and having drawn barrier two with a 2kg claim from her apprentice hoop, she looks hard to beat. With two wins from her past four starts she clearly has confidence on her side, and considering three of her our four career wins have come on rain-affected going, she is sure to handle the going.
Best Value at Moe: Barnsbury
Ken and Kasey Keys bring their four-year-old mare Barnsbury to the Moe 1117m looking to go one better than her second-place finish at Wangaratta on debut. Things simply did not go her way in the home straight on September 14, as she was badly affected by a riderless horse and also lost a plate in the running. She did manage to balance up again with 100m to go, and considering she missed by only 0.2 lengths, she should prove hard to beat on Thursday. Staying at the 1100m should be no detriment to her chances, and with even luck this time round, we expect the Danerich mare to be too good under a well-timed steer from Teo Nugent.
