Moe preview

What Moe Races
Where Moe Racing Club – Waterloo Rd, Moe VIC 3825
When Sunday, January 15, 2023
First Race 1:20pm AEDT

We go to Moe Racing Club this Sunday for a competitive eight-race card. The Moe track is currently rated a Soft 5, but considering we have an extremely hot day forecast for Saturday, we should see a Good track on race day. The rail will be in the True position for the entire circuit, when racing gets underway at 1:20pm AEDT. Here are our free Moe tips for Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Best Bet at Moe: Silkstar

Our best bet of the day will be the debutant, Silkstar, from the Mick Price & Michael Kent (Jnr) yard who comes into her first race start with the benefit of two jump outs this preparation at Cranbourne over 800m. This daughter of Bel Esprit has shown that she has above average ability and is now ready to go to the races after two very nice trials, where she worked to the line strongly under a hold in the final 200m of both. She may have only won one of the two trials, but both indicated that she has a will to win, as she savaged the line on each occasion. Daniel Moor will take the ride on Sunday and from barrier one, this girl will obviously need a bit of luck in running to get off the fence, but if she gets clear air with 300m to go, she will be powering home late at the end of the 1100m event.

Next Best at Moe: Fam Gorman

The fourth race of the day over 1600m will feature Fam Gorman from the Kevin Corstens yard, where he will be looking to break his maiden at start number seven after finishing third over 2000m at Werribee on December 18. This three-year-old gelding has been good without winning at his last two starts, finishing 3.4 lengths third at Werribee and 3.2 lengths sixth at Sandown in much harder fields than he will meet this Sunday. The son of Impending will jump from barrier seven and will look to cross the field and lead them up. Aaron Lynch will have his first ride on this gelding and if he finds the lead without doing too much work and starts to up the tempo at the 600m, his race fitness should hold him in good stead and make him very hard to catch in the concluding stages.

Best Value at Moe: Tea Master

The penultimate race of the day will see our value play of the day go around at $15 with online bookmakers, as we side with Tea Master from the Lyn Tolson & Leonie Proctor yard. This four-year-old gelding has finished second at both of his starts this preparation over 1100m at Wangaratta and 1200m at Mornington, where he finished off nicely after travelling just behind the speed at both starts. Now that this son of Exceed And Excel gets barrier one and another crack at the 1200m, we should see this gelding get all of the favours in the running and possibly even lead if nothing else in the race wants to. Celine Gaudray will take 1.5kg off, meaning he will carry 55.5kg and if he gets an easy lead out in front, Sunday could be the day that he finally breaks through for a win this campaign. Tea Master is also offering great value at $15 with horse racing bookmakers.
