Group 1 Melbourne Cup (3200m) runner-up Soulcombe is unlikely to run this spring.

The rising six-year-old, who was sidelined earlier this year with an off-fore leg injury during his preparation for the Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m), has been making good progress in his rehabilitation.

However, managing part-owner Ozzie Kheir told Racing.com that the spring carnival is approaching too quickly.

“He’s in light work at the moment, but he is highly unlikely to be back for the spring,” Kheir said.

“He’s rehabbing as well as we could hope, but the injury just came at a bad time as far as getting him right for the spring.

“We’ll just take our time and let him tell us, as you can’t rush coming back from an injury like that.”
