“I’m Cheeky, what a boil over! 150-1!”
— Racing.com (@Racing) February 12, 2021
How often do we see it, a 100/1 one shot going toe to toe with a favourite for three quarters of a race before fading back through the field whilst the favourite kicks away to win. Well many a favourite backer had their winnings spent when Kingstar Amber ambled up to the rank outsider I’m Cheeky. The eventual winner is aptly named because I’m Cheeky was headed with 200m to go, yet got off the canvas to salute at $151!!! It’s enough to make you sick and crawl up in a ball, as Kingstar Amber was one of our best bets of the day at Sale. Caller “Adam O” had to double check his race book to make sure he had call the right horse over the line. Whilst he was doing that a certain Punt Drunk member had to pick his jaw up off the floor.
Not the only disappointing thing to come out of Melbourne yesterday….
He promised his 3rd lockdown will be for 5 days only.
So why do the lockdown legal directions continue until 26 February?
What else isn’t he telling us?#springst pic.twitter.com/IR52q9GQ3F

Ahhhh Melbourne, you had one job! Don’t cause an outbreak of Covid-19 and go into lockdown. We kicked the shit out of Perth a couple of weeks ago for letting the country down and the racing down. Now Melbourne, your head is back on the chopping block. With the five day stage four lockdown in place as of 12am this morning it means there will be no fans at the races in Victoria until at least Thursday. It means that for the first group one at Flemington for the year, the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes. Imagine how good it would have been watching Nature Strip and Bivouac go head to head down the straight, and think of how good those cold beers on track would have been before we got sucked into those Valentine’s Day plans! Ah well, time to put the trackies on and sit on the couch listening to T.Brassel all day!
All Star black out underway

This is how the top 10 in voting looks for the 2021 All Star Mile just hours before the last couple of days of voting commences. The leaderboard will be blacked out between now and midnight Sunday when voting closes. With one spot up for grabs now that Verry Elleegant has been pulled out of the nominations there will be plenty of last minute campaigns for those on the brink of the Top 10. It’s only a month away punters and boy are we keen!
