Laws Of Indices, trained by Annabel Neasham, will be taking on Golden Sixty in the Hong Kong Mile next month at Sha Tin.

The French Group 1 winner will be the only Australian-trained horse who features in the fields for the four Group 1 races at Sha Tin on December 11, after the fields were released on Wednesday night.

The five-year-old will compete in the Hong Kong Mile, which is widely considered one of the greatest mile races in the world, with a massive $5.7 million prize pool.

The current race favourite with online bookmakers and defending champion, Golden Sixty, will be the horse to beat in the Group 1 feature after returning with a very impressive win in the Group 2 Jockey Club Mile on Sunday.

Laws Of Indices is yet to break through in Australia since arriving in Sydney in October of 2021, but he ran placings in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes and Group 1 Toorak Handicap in the autumn and spring of this year.

While the son of Power will be the only Australian runner at the Hong Kong International Races, there will still be some Aussie connections involved with a few of the other runners.

Australian Racing Hall of Fame member David Hayes will have Super Wealthy running in the Hong Kong Sprint, while 11-time champion trainer John Size will have Sight Success in the same race, as well as Waikuku and Excellent Proposal in the Hong Kong Mile.

“The LONGINES Hong Kong International Races are firmly established as one of world racing’s leading events and this year we will welcome and excellent line-up from Japan, Europe, Australia and Singapore,” Andrew Harding from the Hong Kong Jockey Club said after the fields were released on Wednesday night.

“This will be a very special renewal of the LONGINES Hong Kong International Races and a thrilling afternoon of sport on Sunday, 11 December at Sha Tin.”
