The Kyneton Racing Club is scheduled to host an eight-race card from 1:30pm AEDT on Thursday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s Victorian form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the meeting. The track is rated a Soft 5, with the rail out 4m from the 1200m to the winning post and then true for the remainder.
Kyneton Best Bet – Bad Influence
Our best bet of the day comes from the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace yard as Bad Influence looks to build on her first-up second at Warrnambool on November 28. That was over 1200m where she absolutely flew home to be beaten narrowly, so the step up the 1469m on Thursday looks ideal. It was the mare’s first run in close to 12 months, so you would expect she will only have benefitted from it. She will need the race run to her liking considering she likes to get back and run on from the rear of the field. From barrier two, we anticipate Allen will look to have her settled midfield with cover, and with even luck she should be finishing over the top of her rivals.
Next Best at Kyneton – French Star
In the second leg of the quaddie, the Bob Challis-trained French Star will be looking to make it three wins in a row. Her last start was over the 1200m at Kyneton, but the step back to 1100m on Thursday should not hinder her chances at all. From barrier four, with speed drawn to her outside, we expect apprentice Logan McNeil to look to settle in the first half a dozen. If they are afforded such luxury, we know this five-year-old mare has the will to win. With a couple of potentially vulnerable leaders in the field, French Star is the one we want to be with in this BM58.
Kyneton Value Bet – High Torque
The Dean Grass-trained High Torque steps out over 1875m in the third leg of the Kyneton quaddie and is looking to break through for a deserved victory. The five-year-old son of Toronado has two runner-up efforts and a fourth-place finish to his name in his three runs this campaign. He was beaten 1.85 lengths in the Latrobe Valley Cup at Traralgon on November 28 when hitting the line nicely over the 1900m. We expect he will be settled closer to last, but he has shown a nice turn of foot and we anticipate Michael Poy will have him fighting out the finish.
