North Otago trainers Phil, Brad and Matthew Williamson head north to Addington today with a team of strong winning chances.
Krackaling ($1.75FF) resumes in what will be arguably lesser company than she met in her 2 year-old campaign when she goes around in Race 1 tonight. The 3 year-old What The Hill filly has not raced since September last year. With 2 trials to prepare for tonight’s resumption, winning one of those at Oamaru, expectations are high in the Williamson camp.
“We expect her to be a pretty good winning chance,” says Brad Williamson.
“She’s a horse that’s got more potential than your average maiden.”
In Race 2 Ain’t No Angel ($7.50FF) returns to her preferred mobile after botching the stand in her previous start. The 4 year-old Raging Bull mare had a placing and a win prior. However, drawing the outside of the gate over 1980m is never an attractive task.
“The wide draw doesn’t make it easy. She’ll need a bit of luck in running to get the win.
“Back to the mobile will help. She’s probably an outside each-way chance.”
Dominations Call ($14.00FF) will be looking for a form reversal when he goes around in race 8. Since winning nicely 3 starts back at Invercargill the five-year-old Trixton gelding has noticed the rise in class.
“He’s in a race that’s a wee bit strong for him this week.
“Once he drops back into the right grade he will be more competitive.”
In the same race, Jimmy Carter ($2.80FF) for father Phil Williamson will be looking to make it a hat trick of wins with John Morrison doing the driving, while brother Matthew Williamson lines up Winning Bones ($18.00FF), with Kerryn Tomlinson to steer.
Williamson also drives Majestic Love ($2.80FF) for Phil, who he rates as a strong winning chance in race 3.
“It’s a massive drop back in grade from her fresh-up run ..she’s definitely a winning chance.”
On Friday, Williamson will head to Alexandra Park, Auckland, to take the drive on Majestic Man ($26.00FF) in the Rowe Cup also for father Phil.
“It looks tough for him to be running top 3 or 4. We will be looking for luck.”
Brother Matthew will also be in action, driving stablmate Love N The Port ($14.00FF) in the Group 1 feature.
