Trainer Mick Price has enjoyed his fair share of success with New Zealand imports – especially ones in the OTI Racing silks.
And the leading handler is hopeful The Creator (NZ) (Wrote) can make his presence felt on his Australian debut at Flemington on Saturday.
The three-year-old son of Wrote was unbeaten in New Zealand, recording strong victories at his two career starts.
It gives Price hope that he can continue that strong run of form Down Under, starting in the VRC Member Shane Murray Handicap (1400m) at Flemington.
“I think he will run very well. He’s an interesting horse, we bought him off good race form and I think he’s ready to run very well,” said Price, who trains in partnership with Michael Kent Jnr.
“Blinkers are a legacy of how he raced in New Zealand, so we have left them on. He doesn’t blaze up in trackwork, but he is a nice horse, he will run well.”
Wiremu Pinn has been booked to ride from barrier five.
