Racings heads to Royal Randwick Racecourse on Wednesday afternoon for a competitive seven-race program set for decision. The rail is out +3m the entire circuit, and although we currently have a Soft 6 track listed for race-day, we’re expecting an upgrade into the Good range prior to the first race at 12:50pm AEST.
Best Bet at Randwick-Kensington: Naval College
Naval College impressed on Australian debut for the Annabel Neasham yard and was unfortunate not to make it a winning start to the campaign. Chad Schofield found nothing but backsides when turning for home at this course and distance on April 25, and with any luck clearly would’ve defeated Storm King, who has since won again. The form-line stacks up nicely and they’ve elected to drop back in grade to BM64 company, finding any easier task for this son of Dartmouth, despite having to carry a significant weight. Jett Stanley is a young apprentice in outstanding touch, giving us a very useful 3kg claim to utilize getting Naval College well in with 60kg on his back. He draws to get the perfect run as he did first-up, but this time we’re confident Stanley can keep Naval College out of trouble. Provided he gets clear air in the straight, it should be a painless watch for Naval College backers.

Next Best at Randwick-Kensington: Rogue Bear
Rogue Bear looks to be improving with every start since arriving in Australia and we think can produce a winning effort third-up. The two starts for this Kris Lees-trained gelding by Kodiac have had plenty of merit – particularly his latest run at Hawkesbury chasing home the likes of Palmetto and Estadio Mestalla in the process. He finished 2.5 lengths away on April 22 and undoubtedly got every chance to win the BM88, but it just seemed a step too far for this European import. Coming back to BM78 company looks ideal and although he may be looking for further than 1400m later in the campaign, Rogue Bear has superior form to what he faces on Wednesday afternoon. Jaspar Franklin is another apprentice jockey on the rise and gives Rogue Bear some relief in the weights as a bonus. He’s drawn gate four in a field of nine and we’d be shocked if Rogue Bear wasn’t toppling his opposition late when the sprint goes on.

Next Best Again at Randwick-Kensington: Look Only
The longer the preparation seems to go on, the better Look Only seems to be getting. This daughter of Knight Exemplar just continues put it all together with multiples wins in the campaign. She’s a last star winner on April 19 at Warwick Farm and despatched her opposition in style over the 1200m. It came courtesy of an elite steer by Zac Lloyd finding clear running to score a dominant 1.2-length win. The win came at BM72 level against the girls and now heading to open company, we think she can handle herself against the boys as well. Molly Bourke has taken the reins once before for a minor placing and with a valuable 3kg claim gets Look Only down to 54kg. With that and a terrific barrier for a perfect run in transit, Look Only is a galloper you can back with confidence on Wednesday afternoon.
