ANZAC Day racing heads to Royal Randwick Racecourse on Tuesday afternoon for a competitive eight-race program on the Kensington circuit. It’s currently a Soft 6 surface listed for the meeting, and with a slight chance of rain leading into race-day, we expect the course to stay in the Soft range. The rail is in the true position the entire circuit, with racing set to get underway at 12:45pm AEST.
Best Bet: Emperor
Emperor had been such a promising two-year-old; however, after suffering some setbacks will be looking to make a triumphant return to racing on Tuesday afternoon. It’s taken 444 days away from racing for the Matthew Dunn yard and now with two impressive barrier trials, looks to be travelling in supreme form. We’re keeping expectations in check considering his jump-outs were at Ballina on March 30 and April 11, but regardless, it was nice to see this son of I Am Invincible put his rivals to bed in both. He’s classy enough to be right in this first-up assignment and with fitness being the main query, we’re still keen to make him the best bet of the day in the opener. Emperor gets a top draw booking of Nash Rawiller to take the reins and from barrier one should receive every opportunity to secure his maiden victory, doing so in stylish fashion if at his electrifying best.

Next Best: Yarrawonga
Yarrawonga is yet to win since his arrival in Australia but has been going terrific since joining the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott stable. His three performances have all been over the staying trips and now with fitness on his side, and a nice swing in the weights on some key rivals, Yarrawonga looks set for a peak effort on Tuesday. He looks to get a free rein of the lead with no speed engaged outside of himself and if he can pinch some cheap early sectionals, this son of Australia is guaranteed to give us a bold sight. Brett Prebble takes the ride for the first time and from the soft draw should have these chasing a long way from home.

Best Value: Naval College
Naval College will be looking to make his Australian racing debut a winning one for the Annabel Neasham team, and we think is a massive each-way shout for Tuesday afternoon. This son of Dartmouth has trialled deceptively well since his arrival, finishing near last in both. They read poorly but rest assured they were both eye-catching jump-outs. He was ridden quietly throughout both 1030m and 1200m trials, finding the line with plenty in hand. They’ve elected to start his campaign over the 1800m which shows great intent from the stable and we think can easily figure in this wide-open affair. Chad Schofield took the reins in his second barrier trial and elects to stick on Tuesday. He gets barrier three and should be finding a position relatively near the one-one, and if he does should be closing off for to find the frame for a result.
