Provincial racing heads to the Illawarra region of NSW on Tuesday afternoon as Kembla Grange hosts a quickfire seven-race program. The rail is out +6m for the entire circuit, and with drying conditions in the lead-up, punters should anticipate a Good 4 surface. The opening event is scheduled to get underway at 1:50pm AEDT.
Best Bet at Kembla Grange: Xidaki
Xidaki was finally able to break his maiden on the Kensington circuit at Randwick on February 14, holding a position outside the leader as Kerrin McEvoy allowed the three-year-old to stride forward. It was an unfamiliar role, but it paid dividends. With the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained galloper showing some versatility, it gives McEvoy plenty of options from stall six on Tuesday, so punters should expect another positive steer.

Best Value at Kembla Grange: Make A Call
Formerly trained by Peter & Paul Snowden, Make A Call was thrown into the deep end late in his last campaign, beaten by 10 lengths in the Group 1 VRC Derby (2500m) on November 4. He simply isn’t a stayer, and on the back of two strong barrier trials for Joseph Pride, the son of Extreme Choice should be able to sprint well fresh. The 4kg claim from Leeshelle Small offers some relief in the weights on some key rivals, so watch for Make A Call to be bursting through the wire.
Best Value
Race 4 – #5 Make A Call (7)
