HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for Thursday’s seven-race program at Kembla Grange, which is scheduled to begin at 12:55pm AEST. The track is rated a Soft 6, and the rail is out 3m from the 1100m to the winning post and then true for the remainder of the course.
Best Bet at Kembla Grange – California Touch
We have been waiting to see two-year-old colt California Touch step out at the races this preparation following two very nice trials. The Snowden-trained son of Deep Field didn’t do a great deal in his first racing preparation back in March, but both trials in June suggested he’s come back a better and more powerful galloper. From the four alley, he should be presented with a nice run in transit and give them something to catch under Regan Bayliss.
Best Bet
Race 4 – #2 California Touch (4)
2yo Colt | T: Peter & Paul Snowden | J: Regan Bayliss (57kg)

Next Best at Kembla Grange – Tidal Creek
The odds-on quote about Tidal Creek in the opener should be justified on Thursday, as the Annabel Neasham-trained colt looks to return to the winner’s circle. The three-year-old son of Snitzel won back-to-back races earlier in the year before going to the paddock, so after two moderate runs back, he looks ready to win. The go-forward galloper will be well rated in front under Ellen Hennessy from barrier three, so we are expecting him to be hard to run down now that he is third-up. The form around Tudor Prince, Karlstad and Kirkeby looks handy for a race like this.
Next Best
Race 1 – #2 Tidal Creek (3)
3yo Colt | T: Annabel Neasham | J: Ellen Hennessy (a2)(61kg)

Best Value at Kembla Grange – Donegal Lights
Three-year-old gelding Donegal Lights has made a consistent start to his racing career, with a win and two minor placings from five starts. The Paul & Martha Cave-trained gelding beat only one runner home in each of his first two career starts back in December, but a good spell saw him return as a completely different horse, as he posted a good win first-up, before claiming consecutive thirds. Last time out, he finished third to Aramis and Dirty Merchant – two above-average horses – so we expect him to go well in this provincial race against lesser-quality animals. The $12 on offer with online bookmakers is appealing.
Best Value
Race 7 – #7 Donegal Lights (7)
3yo Gelding | T: Paul & Martha Cave | J: Grant Buckley (56.5kg)
$12 with Neds
