Gavin Bedggood’s five-time Group winner Just Folk has undergone life-saving surgery after being diagnosed with colic.

“I spoke to the vet at 9 pm on Tuesday night and they thought he was comfortable, but they rang me at 1:20 am and said we had no choice but to do surgery,” Bedggood told Racing.com.

“As it turned out he had a twist in his bowel, so we weren’t going to get out of it any other way.”

The rising eight-year-old, who has won $627,190 in ten starts for Bedggood since being the trainer’s most expensive purchase for $199,000 via Inglis Digital last year, will now require a four-month spell.
