A full field of 16 runners will line up in the $1 million Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington on Saturday afternoon.
The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr-trained colt Jacquinot has opened as the $2.80 favourite with online bookmakers for what could be his last-ever race start before going to stud.
The race favourite is one of two runners that brings different Group 1 form, with the Kevin & Bev Kelso-trained Legarto ($8) winning the New Zealand 1000 Guineas in November last year.
Of the six runners that come through the Group 3 CS Hayes form line, there is no question that race winner Elliptical ($6.50) from the Anthony & Sam Freedman yard is the top seed as he goes into the Guineas second-up and stepping up to 1600m.
Another of the interesting factors in the Australian Guineas and Randwick Guineas is that Attrition ($8) and Lindermann ($23) have accepted in both Group 1 three-year-old features, and their scratchings will affect both markets when they come out in the coming days.
Along with the race favourite, the Price & Kent Jnr yard has another two runners in the race, Amenable ($12) and Maximillius ($23), with the former looking to be a definite knockout chance now that he takes the step up to 1600m.
