Isthmus, the Anthony and Sam Freedman-trained mare, is being prepared for a potential trip to the UK for the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting.

The four-year-old I Am Invincible mare last raced on November 2, claiming victory in the Group 3 Furphy Sprint (1100m).

Before heading overseas, she is set to contest the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) and the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) this autumn to secure her spot.

“She did really well in her break and she strengthened right up and seemed to move well this morning,” co-trainer Sam Freedman told Racing.com after Isthmus won an 800-metre jump-out at Caulfield Heath on Wednesday.

Freedman emphasised the importance of Isthmus’s upcoming performances.

“It’s form-based, so she needs to measure up at the top level over the course of this carnival, and if she does, (part-owner) Jonathan Munz is very keen to get her over there (to Royal Ascot).”

“We had a chat with (part-owners) Arrowfield in Queensland as well, and they are on the same page that if her form warrants it, that certainly she could get a trip over.”
