The track is currently a Soft 5, while the rail has been moved out 7m for the entire course. The first race of the day is scheduled to jump at 12:33pm AEST.
Ipswich Best Bet – Georgie’s Pride
Georgie’s Pride has always been a top-class mare and we expect to see her race competitively on a Saturday over the Brisbane Winter Carnival, so Wednesday’s run at Ipswich looks an easy kill to lift her rating. The Desleigh Forster-trained four-year-old went winless over the summer months from her five starts, but she wasn’t beaten all that far in some very nice races. The mare by Better Than Ready was a good trial winner at Deagon on April 19, leading throughout to defeat Scallopini by just under a length. Jim Byrne takes the ride once again on this classy mare, who should make every post a winner from barrier six.

Next Best at Ipswich – Barbary Royale
The Lindsay Gough-trained Barbary Royale made up some very good ground late to run a 3.5-length second in her very first race start, so we are expecting that the filly by Whittington takes great improvement from that run. Wendy Peel sticks aboard the galloper on Wednesday, which will see her 3kg claim come into use, getting this horse’s weight down to 54kg from the allocated 57kg. From barrier seven, it would be ideal to see Peel show some intent out of the gates and put Barbary Royale into a position that gives her a good chance of winning her maiden.

Ipswich Value Bet – Devastating
Tony Gollan and Ryan Maloney combine in the penultimate race with handy three-year-old Devastating. The son of Exceed And Excel is coming out of some hot metropolitan races, finishing close up to Zavaboom and Enterprise Pomme in his past two outings. This gelding should appreciate stepping back in grade to the midweeks, while he goes from a 3YO Quality to a Class 1 Handicap with just 57.5kg. It looks outstanding placement by Queensland’s leading trainer, and he should get the right service by one of the state’s top jockeys. Maloney will go forward and slot in behind First Peoples and Arentree from barrier 10, giving Devastating the right run in transit to hit back and return to the winner’s circle.
