The Melbourne Greyhound Racing Association (MGRA) has sent out invitations to nominate for the exclusive Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun & Topgun Stayers events to be held at The Meadows on Saturday night 5 November.
Connections who have received invitations to nominate now have until 12 noon on Thursday 20 October 2022 to lodge a nomination with Greyhound Racing Victoria (GRV) should they wish to be considered for a position in the final fields.
MGRA Chair Eddie Caruana noted it will be a tough year for the panel to select their top eight.
“Every year, the panel have a difficult time selecting the final fields, in both the sprinters and the stayers, and this year is no exception with some very talented greyhounds set to miss a spot come November 5.
The Sportsbet Topgun invitation process is always a privilege to be involved in and with invitations now sent out, we look forward to the stars of the track looking to add their name to the honour roll alongside some of the all-time greats of the track.”
“The Group 1 Sportsbet Topgun carries total prizemoney of $233,250 for the Sprinters and $121,500 for the stayers, with greyhounds looking to emulate the deeds of Aston Rupee and Gypsy Wyong, the winners of last year’s events”
