In case you missed it – Kelsey Bale, Hummock and Trooper Tears

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of runs from around Victoria that have caught the eye over the past fortnight.

#1 KELSEY BALE (Box 1)
Breeding: June ’20 Feral Franky x Ethla Allen
Trainer: Daniel Gibbons (Avalon)
Record: 63 starts 23-17-6

Dale says: Kelsey Bale has amazingly made this column for a fifth time, but it is hard to ignore a track record run.

Kelsey Bale set a new figure for the Warrnambool 450-metre trip in a heat of the Group 2 Cup (24.68 seconds) breaking the record set by Unlawful Entry way back in 2016 (24.72 seconds).

#2 HUMMOCK (Box 4)
Breeding: March ’20 My Redeemer x Invictus Glory
Trainer: Clint Capuano (Anakie)
Record: 38 starts 15-3-5

Dale says: Arguably the best 600-metre Premier Racing win recorded this year given the position Hummock came from, the quality of opposition, and the brilliant field sense he displayed.

#3 TROOPER TEARS (Box 3)
Breeding: April ’21 Goodesy x Freaky Tears
Trainer: Rob Britton (Lara)
Record: 14 starts 9-5-0

Dale says: Sent out the shortest priced favourite on the card ($1.40), punters would have had experienced a roller coaster of emotions as Trooper Tears was shuffled out to last soon after the start and when he bounced off the running rail going into the first bend, all chance of victory appeared lost.

However, he made a remarkable recovery and displayed an unrivalled will to win – combined with a sustained turn of speed – to record this ridiculous last-to-first victory.
