We head to Elwick Racecourse on Sunday afternoon where a bumper nine-race card is scheduled and with a bit of luck Horsebetting’s Tasmanian form expert can steer you into a couple of winners. The track has come up a Soft 5 following mid-week rain, whilst the rail comes out to the 6m the entire circuit.
The first of nine races are set to jump at 11:45am AEST
Best Bet at Hobart – Turk Warrior
The Glenn Davidson-trained Turk Warrior is arguably one of the best talents in the Apple Isle and despite no doubt starting as a short-priced favourite on Sunday, clearly looks the best bet of the day. Despite being rolled as a $1.22 favourite on April 15, this looks to be no harder than races he was dominant in prior to that slip up. From barrier three, Ismail Toker will look to take luck out of the equation and dictate terms from the front under a well-rated steer. Outside of Finxy, there looks to be no real speed in the race, meaning Turk Warrior should get a quiet time of it out in front and looks simply too classy for this lot.

Next Best at Hobart – Hela
Sunday marks the return of the Scott Brunton-trained Hela who this time last year was going around as a $4 chance in the Australasian Oaks. The four-year-old mare returns in a 1400m Handicap event, where she will look to roll forward under Dean Holland and give her rivals something to run down. Arguably her biggest competition comes from Sir Simon who will stalk Hela wherever she goes. Hela has a high cruising speed and with three wins from as many starts on rain-affected will handle the conditions and show her class en route to potentially some nice races in Queensland during the winter.

Best Value at Hobart – Zulu Angel
The Gary White-trained Zulu Angel had every right to finish closer than what he did to Share The Gold on April 24 when continually impeded for clear air at a crucial time. Having hit the line with great intent over the final 50m on that day, the step up to 1400m looks ideal from the 1200m and with a gun run in transit from barrier three expected, he looks one to back at a nice price. Bulent Muhcu has been on board for both of Zulu Angel’s starts and will no doubt want to right the wrongs from a tricky ride last time out. Zulu Angel looks the one to beat and we’re happy to take the price on offer with online betting sites.
