HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie picks for the seven-race metropolitan meeting at Hawkesbury on Wednesday, November 10. The track is currently a Heavy 10, while the rail is in the true position for the entire course. Racing will start a little bit later than usual, with the first race scheduled to jump at 2pm AEDT.
Hawkesbury Best Bet – Hypnosis
We didn’t have to look too far to find a good thing, as the first horse in the race book, Hypnosis, looks very hard to beat in the opener. The Bjorn Baker-trained gelding is looking to win his maiden at start six after placing on four occasions already in his career, including in his two runs back this campaign. It is a bottomless track on Wednesday, so the fact that this son of Press Statement has placed in all three of his Soft track starts (3:0-1-2) and placed third in his sole Heavy track experience suggests that he should handle the going. Brandon Lerena partnered this four-year-old last time out at this track and took him forward from the outside alley, so from barrier five on Wednesday he should be positive again and prove very hard to get past in the opener. He looks superior on the Heavy going.
Next Best Bet at Hawkesbury – Wardaddy
In the opening leg of the quaddie, Dylan Gibbons and Kris Lees combine with Wardaddy in what will be the gelding’s third career start. This three-year-old son of Panzer Division won very convincingly on debut in June at Taree on a Heavy 8, leading throughout to win by 4.25 lengths, before resuming this campaign with a trial win on a Heavy 8 and then a narrow defeat at Port Macquarie on a Soft 6. Wardaddy will relish getting back onto a Heavy deck on Wednesday, while he should be able to control the race from in front despite drawing the outside alley in gate 12. Gibbons knows this horse well, and his 3kg claim knocks the weight down to just 53.5kg. He should win this.
Best Value Bet at Hawkesbury – Miss Milton
Considering that this meeting looks in some doubt of even going ahead, we thought it would be best to get our best bets out of the way early so we head back to race three for the value. Miss Milton has had four career starts to date and ran into the placings in two of those, both on rain-affected surfaces. Like Wardaddy, this three-year-old filly is by Panzer Division, so she is bred to handle the Heavy going. In her two placings on wet tracks, the Lou Mary-trained runner wasn’t beaten all that fair; she went down by only four-tenths of a length at Taree last time out, while in the Inglis 2YO Challenge at Scone she was a $101 outsider and finished only one length back in third. Jean Van Overmeire rode her on that occasion, so he knows the filly well enough, while barrier eight should give him plenty of opportunities to find cover in the 1300m contest. This is winnable.
